Rudy has practiced and studied yoga and meditation since he was an athlete during his college days in New Hampshire. Though intrigued with the physical practice, it was really peace of mind he was after. He began a regular meditation practice at 19, managing to find a quiet place to court stillness for twenty minutes twice a day and successfully managed to transcend his shyness and insecurity.

Rudy received a Masters Degree in Psychology, and began working at a Community Mental Health Center, but he never stopped pursuing his yoga journey. He attended local Kripalu yoga classes in Concord, NH and began going to retreats at Kripalu Center in Pennsylvania. In the summer of 1982, he resigned from his job to move into the Kripalu Spiritual Community. He quickly became certified as a Kripalu Yoga Teacher and became a junior teacher trainer, coaching the teaching staff for guest and resident yoga classes.

He has now been practicing, studying, teaching yoga and training teachers for over 25 years. Rudy is currently a trainer on the faculty of the Kripalu School of Yoga in Lenox, Massachusetts.

His passion is helping people discover themselves through a self-loving practice of yoga. He has directed the yoga teaching staff at Kripalu for many years and also directs Advanced Teacher Training Programs.

His gift is leading Gentle Yoga, a particularly accessible yet deep and challenging style of yoga he has developed over these years from the Kripalu style. This unique practice led Rudy to create the popular “Gentle Series,” CD set of Yoga instruction for all levels.

In addition to Gentle Yoga programs at Kripalu Center in Lenox, Rudy leads exotic yoga vacations to exquisite retreats in Tuscany, Italy and Costa Rica.

In the 1990s, Rudy led some of the most popular yoga programs for men. After many years, he is bringing them back with renewed inspiration and a few innovations. On March 25-27, 2009 Rudy will offer Men’s Yoga for the Soul at Kripalu. This is the first time he is offering a men’s program in a two-night, Friday to Sunday format. On August 23 – 28, 2009 he will offer the Men’s Yoga Quest. This is a yoga immersion program which includes two evening drumming sessions, with instruction and guidance from Shaun LaFramboisse of KDZ, the Kripalu Drummers.

Sounds like an awesome training. Would love to get my son interested in yoga and this class looks perfect, not sure he is ready yet though. Has one more semester at college and maybe in the future he will find his way.
