Join Rudy at Dream Yoga Studio and Wellness Center in McLean, VA! Science now reveals that the deepest benefits of yoga come from developing interoception—internal awareness. Studies show that slow, meditative yoga does something different to your nervous system; yoga helps build proprioception (body-in-space awareness) and interoception (mind-body relationship). We build interoception by paying attention to momentary fluctuations in bodily sensations, purposefully and non-judgmentally…without any need to change or fix anything.

This is the “secret sauce” to Dynamic Gentle Yoga and is what makes it so transformative. Slow yoga trains the respiratory musculature, the vagus nerve, heart rate variability, interoception (which may correlate with empathy), and the relaxation response. The “rest and digest” part of the nervous system needs to train. This kind of training or practice requires your mindful participation.
 This weekend, we explore three special aspects of the practice:

  • Developing interoception while engaging in an innovative strengthening sequence
  • Investigating energy levels while practicing six different pranayama techniques,and
  • Encountering your radiant core in a seamless Gentle Yoga Vinyasa
  •
